SCHOLES NAMES BOSNICH WORST SIGNING

Paul Scholes has named his former Manchester United teammate Mark Bosnich as the club's worst-ever signing. The ex-United midfielder reflected on Bosnich’s brief stint at Old Trafford, claiming the goalkeeper failed to live up to expectations after being brought in to replace Peter Schmeichel.

Following Manchester United’s historic treble-winning season in 1999, Sir Alex Ferguson was tasked with finding a reliable successor for the legendary Schmeichel.

Ferguson turned to Bosnich, who had previously been at United in 1991 before returning to Australia due to visa issues. After establishing himself as a top Premier League goalkeeper during a successful spell at Aston Villa, Bosnich returned to United in 1999.

Manchester United Can Win the Europa League If They Avoid Fear, Says Paul Scholes

Paul Scholes says that the key towards Manchester United rediscovering the former glory days would be to play without fearing the opposition.

After having managed just one win in the last five league matches, United are certainly looking once again set for a top four battle. The club has missed out on qualification to the Champions League twice in the last three seasons. It is a very good possibility that United may very well miss out on the top for once again, as the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal seem extremely good at the moment.

Vidic back Old Boys

Manchester United's old guard continue to set the example for the rest of the squad, claims Nemanja Vidic.

"I hope the Community Shield won't be the last trophy we win this season," said Vidic.

"We've worked hard in pre-season and I've seen the hunger in the players' eyes. We are ready to win more trophies because there exists a winning mentality at United.

Scholes: Two Years Left

Paul Scholes admits he'll be happy when his Manchester United career is over.

"Part of me will be glad to finish," said Scholes. "I can't say I can't wait to finish but I'm looking forward to finishing and everything that goes with it. The only thing I'll definitely miss is the football. The general life of a footballer, I suppose, I won't miss at all.

Fergie: Scholes Form Good

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted with the form of Paul Scholes ahead of tonight's clash with Roma.

Scholes has regained top form after a three-and-a-half-month absence with a knee injury and was influential in Rome.

Asked if the unassuming midfielder would be handed the armband, Ferguson quipped: "Paul would regard that as punishment!

Hargreaves Happy to Battle

Battling for a starting role is nothing new to Owen Hargreaves, who is competing with Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Anderson and Darren Fletcher for one of two midfield positions.

"There is competition everywhere," he said. "If you want to play with the best then there is competition everywhere.

"It's good to have that - but the most important thing is that we are successful as a group.
