Manchester United Can Win the Europa League If They Avoid Fear, Says Paul Scholes
Paul Scholes says that the key towards Manchester United rediscovering the former glory days would be to play without fearing the opposition.
After having managed just one win in the last five league matches, United are certainly looking once again set for a top four battle. The club has missed out on qualification to the Champions League twice in the last three seasons. It is a very good possibility that United may very well miss out on the top for once again, as the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal seem extremely good at the moment.
One of the ways to qualify for the Champions League next season would be to win the Europa League, and United are on course to meeting the subject of after having just reach the knockout stages. Even though they have not finished as the group winners, mere qualification is more than satisfactory at this moment.
Scholes says that United are one of the strongest outfits in the knockout stages of the Europa League and could very well go on to lift the title. However, they should not fear any opposition in order to do so according to the midfielder, who won the Champions League with the club in 1999 and 2008.
"I wouldn’t be worried by any of those teams to be honest with you. I think United have got a really good squad, they’re starting to play some really good football and rightly so they’re favourites to win this competition, I can see them going all the way. There isn’t one team in there that worries me. I still think with the squad that Manchester United have got, whatever team they put out I think they’ll be capable of beating anybody. The big importance is on where they are in the league,” said Scholes.
