Giggs

United beat Birmingham

Cristiano Ronaldo struck five minutes after half-time to give Manchester United victory at Birmingham and move them second in the Premier League.

United lost keeper Edwin van der Sar through injury at half-time and had to survive a spirited Birmingham display.

Giggs: New Contract Soon

Ryan Giggs is confident he will soon secure a new contract at Manchester United.

The 33-year-old's current contract expires in the summer, but Giggs - who is currently 35 games short of Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 759 United appearances - envisages no problems in finalising new terms.

Anderson Settling In

Manchester United's Brazilian-t attacker Anderson has spoken about getting booed at their match against his old rivals Sporting.

The former Porto star was booed by Sporting fans and said: "It happens at every club, it's normal in football. It went for two or three minutes and later it died down."

Giggs: Goals Will Come

Giggs is focused on the nine Premiership points and Group F Champions League opening win against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal the run has produced rather than the fact United have failed to score more than one in a game in their last 13 matches.

"You'd take another 1-0 on Sunday against Chelsea. As long as we keep winning and keep clean sheets the goals will come," said Ryan.

Eight in Top 100

Eight United players have been named among the top 100 footballers in the world in a list compiled by FourFourTwo magazine.

Cristiano Ronaldo, United's outstanding player in the title-winning 2007/08 campaign, was pipped to first place by AC Milan's Brazilian midfielder Kaka, who was the key figure in the Italian side's Champions League success last term.

New Contract for Giggs

Ryan Giggs is set to stick with Manchester United for another two years.

United officials will sit down with the Welsh winger within the month to renegotiate his £75,000-a-week contract.

Giggs, 33, has made 721 appearances and is just 38 away from Bobby Charlton's record.
