United Looking for Another Goalkeeper in this Transfer Window

Manchester United is currently chasing a goalkeeper with Crystal Palace's Jack Butland "definitely has legs," according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Red Devils are searching for a backup goalkeeper to first-choice shot-stopper David de Gea after Martin Dubravka was recalled from his loan spell early by Newcastle United. This has led to a lack of options for Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United.

Sky Sports reporter had recently reported earlier today that Butland is "close to signing" for United on a straight loan deal until the end of the season which would be a huge boost to the club. It is also claimed that Erik ten Hag's charges will pay all of the England international's £40,000-per-week wage packet and that a medical is scheduled to take place in the next 24 hours at Old Trafford.

Tom Heaton is as of now the only other senior goalkeeper on United's books, and Butland will add some much-needed cover and competition between the sticks in the second half of the campaign as United looks to push up for the champions league places. Jones told GMS that the speculation is true, but he still expects United to continue 'looking' for other options in case this deal does not go through.

Although Butland is yet to feature at all this season after picking up a fractured finger, he did return to the Palace bench for their Boxing Day defeat at home to Fulham. The 29-year-old did slot in well for Vicente Guaita when he encountered his fitness complaints last term, though, keeping three clean sheets and leaking only 18 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions. As a result, United are keen on acquiring his services until the end of the season to bolster their squad.
