FERGIE RETIRES

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has retired after a stellar career, has managed to win his final Manager of Year award. The 71-year-old recently guided Manchester United to the 20th league title in the history and the 13th Premier league title. He has been awarded this crowning prize by the League Managers' Association.

After receiving the award, Ferguson has said that he is glad that it has all come to an end because it has been hard work for him over the last four decades. Ferguson has managed Scottish clubs like Aberdeen, but he is hugely popular around the world due to his 26 years at Manchester United.

He will now become the global ambassador for the club, while also being part of the directors as well. Ferguson's final match ended in a spectacular way after the 5-5 draw with West Brom. United were leading the match by three goals on two separate occasions, but they were pegged back by Steve Clarke's men on both occasions. This was also Ferguson's 1500th match in charge as a manager. During his time at Old Trafford, he managed to win 38 trophies including league titles and Champions League.

He will now be replaced by David Moyes, who will leave Everton shortly. "In a way I am glad it is all over now because it has been hard work. It has been overwhelming. The club has been fantastic and congratulations to West Brom with the way they handled yesterday [Sunday]. I think [West Brom manager] Steve Clarke should get an award because anyone who scores five against United deserves it," said Ferguson. The LMA chairman, Howard Wilkinson, also paid tribute to Ferguson after he won the award. Meanwhile, Cardiff manager Mackay was named as the Championship Manager of the Year after getting the club to the Premier league.
