Obertan keen on gardening

Gabriel Obertan has taken up gardening at Manchester United as he attempts to get over his injury hell which has blighted the start of his Old Trafford career.

Obertan, 20, was a surprise capture by Sir Alex Ferguson when he was gleaned from Bordeaux for around £3 million in July, with the talented winger himself admitting that he hadn't expected such lofty interest.

The France Under-21 starlet is yet to make his United debut as he is still recovering from a back injury he sustained while at Les Girondins, although Ferguson revealed last month that he should be back in action in November.

And on Wednesday United legend Brian McClair, who is now an Academy director at Old Trafford, has revealed that Obertan has been keeping busy by helping a senior Academy staff member look after his garden!

"New signing Gabriel Obertan is injured at the moment and can’t train and it seems he has developed a keen interest in gardening," McClair is quoted as telling the Daily Mirror.

Hilariously, the Scot is then said to have added:"He's been seen helping an elderly member of the Academy staff by strimming his lawn, pruning his roses and watering his hanging baskets."
