MANCHESTER UNITED EYEING THIRD SUCCESSIVE WIN
Manchester United have their eyes set on a third successive win ahead of their Champions League trip to Madrid to take on Spanish La Liga holders Atletico Madrid. The Reds Devils have won their last two games in all competitions and they can make it three wins on the bounce if they are able to beat Atletico Madrid who have been out-of-form in the past three months by their usual high standards. Their drop in form has ensured that they are struggling to qualify for next season's Champions League football. Unless they win this season's Champions League title, Atletico Madrid won’t be playing Champions League football next season if they don’t finish in the top-four places at end of the Spanish La Liga this season.
For Manchester United, they were in a mini-crisis before it eased off as a result of the win over Brighton and Hove Albion last week.
The Red Devils had been eliminated by lower league opposition Middlebrough in the FA Cup and were on a run of three winless run before they took on Brighton and Hove Albion at home in the league last week Tuesday. Brighton dominated first half proceedings and Manchester United were fortunate not to be behind at the break. After the interval, Manchester United were much improved and they scored two goals to win the game 2-0 at the expense of the visitors who had captain Lewis Dunk sent off for a professional foul early in the second half. Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were the goalscorers for Manchester United.
Manchester United made it two wins in a row on the league scene with the 4-2 away win over Leeds United who have been porous in defence this season. Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Anthony Elanga and skipper Harry Maguire were all on the scoresheet for the Red Devils who moved four points clear of the chasing pack in the race for fourth spot.
