Luke Shaw disappointed after goalless draw against Wolves

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has expressed his disappointment after the Red Devils’ goalless draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday. The Mancunian giants had the opportunity to take close the gap on fourth-placed Chelsea in the league standings but they failed to do so after managing a frustrating draw against Nuno’s side.

As a result, they remain six points behind the Champions League places and this has genuinely frustrated Shaw, who has witnessed the club failed to take advantage of the teams around them dropping points, he told MUTV: “To be honest I’m really, really disappointed especially with the way the games have been going recently. We haven’t been picking up too many points and today was massive for us with Chelsea dropping points. It seems to keep happening with teams around us dropping points and we don’t end up closing the gap and we are suffering from that. We needed to win.”

With the result, United have gone without a win for three league games on the bounce but most worryingly, they have managed just one point in that period and failed to find the net. After the winter break, the Red Devils have an away game at Chelsea and they have another chance to make ground on the Champions League places.

Traditionally, they have struggled at Stamford Bridge but over the past few years, they have had the better of Chelsea away from home. The Red Devils have beaten the Blues on two occasions this season already and one of them came at the Bridge where they sealed a 2-1 triumph in the League Cup fourth round. Marcus Rashford was the man of the match with a brace and that included a stupendous 35-yard winner from a free-kick. Rashford will, however, miss the forthcoming game as he continues to recover from a back problem.
