Jose Mourinho Says Manchester United Board Have Received List of Summer Targets
Manchester United manager José Mourinho has confirmed that he has already drawn up a list of players who he would like to bring in the summer.
The list of names, which is likely to contain Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, has been given to the United board, according to the Portuguese. Manchester United recently revealed that the financial figures which showed that the overall debt had gone up substantially. It may have been a result of the club’s incredible spending since 2013, while they have also been without Champions League football for most of this period.
United Chief executive Ed Woodward confirmed that the club would not be bringing in a raft of signings in the summer. Instead, United are going to target only a handful of names. A forward is expected to be top of the list with Wayne Rooney expected to leave the club in the summer.
There are also further doubts about the future of the Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Griezmann is expected to cost in excess of £ 18 million, but he is a player who will improve the club substantially. United were extremely close to signing players like Victor Lindelof in the January transfer window. The club are expected to revive their interest in the Swedish defender when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
"The only thing I can tell you is the job of my board is going to be difficult but at the same time it is easy.It is easy because I give them names. I am not giving them qualities or positions. I give them names - the difficulty is to get the names. So it is easy in one way but very difficult in another. Normally the perfect market doesn't exist. It is very difficult to get exactly what you want, especially nowadays,” said Mourinho.
