Rooney to Tevez: Stay!
Wayne Rooney has urged Manchester United to tie Carlos Tevez to a new deal as speculation continues to surround the Argentine's future.
Tevez joined United on a two-year loan agreement in 2007 and will be out of contract in the summer.
Both the player and his advisor Kia Joorabchian have hinted that he could leave Old Trafford during the transfer window, even though he has greatly enjoyed his time with the club.
Sir Alex Ferguson announced after the midweek victory over Wigan that talks had been held with Tevez regarding a permanent deal.
And Rooney hopes the Red Devils can convince Tevez to stay and not pursue a new challenge elsewhere.
Rooney believes his fellow striker has contributed hugely to United's success over the past two years and would be sorry to see him go.
"Carlos is a world-class player and you always want to see those sort of players at your club," Rooney said in the Daily Mirror.
"He's got so much energy and has scored some vital goals.
