Rooney: Double Dreaming
Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United have what it takes to win both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season.
The England striker, who is set to return from illness in the New Year's Day match against Birmingham, believes United's squad is strong enough to maintain a challenge on both fronts.
United are currently sitting second in the Premier League and they face Lyon in the last 16 of the Champions League and Rooney insists they are in good shape to win both trophies.
"In an ideal world, we would win both," Rooney told the Daily Star. "Last year we thought we could do it, but we came up just short in Europe against AC Milan in the semi-finals. But, a year on, we are more experienced and we will cope better.
"We didn't play how we knew we could against Milan, but we were still close to reaching the final. To be honest, I would like to win the Premier League again because it's a massive prize and you play in the league every week. Of course, the Champions League is a big trophy, too, and I am desperate to win that one for the first time."
