Rio: No More Euro Losses
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says England cannot afford to drop any points for the rest of their Euro2008 qualifying campaign.
Ferdinand said: "I think we still need to win every game - even in Moscow. But we can do that. It was a pleasing performance against Israel but it's only the first result in a batch of five qualifying games.
"We don't want to get carried away and say we've turned the corner and everything is suddenly OK again - because this is only one game and what we have to do now is just make sure we continue in the same vein against Russia by playing flowing football, staying resolute at the back and scoring goals.
"We know Russia will present a tougher challenge than Israel but sometimes games are only as hard as you make them.
"If we go out with the same attitude and frame of mind as we showed against Israel then I'm sure we'll get a positive result.
"The game-plan against Israel was to put pressure on them right from the start and we did that. Getting a goal in the first 20 minutes was a big help.
"I wouldn't say it was a relief when Shaun Wright-Phillips' shot went in.
"It was just when we were so dominant and in need of a result, the first goal was always going to be crucial.
"It meant we could press on from there and really finish the game off.
"We didn't do that in our last two games here against Brazil and Germany.
"We didn't build on our lead and allowed them back into it."
