Fergie Concerns on Goals

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admits he has concerns over their lack of goals in preseason.

"It is a concern," Ferguson said, while admitting Louis Saha was likely to be sold this month.

"With Wayne (Rooney) probably out of the opening game and Louis Saha's future unclear we are a bit short up front.

Rio Expects another Striker

Rio Ferdinand expects Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to buy a new striker to compliment Wayne Rooney this season.

"I know the manager wants to see Wayne playing in his more accustomed position, just off the front," said Ferdinand.

"Maybe that will happen if we sign a striker and then you'll see how dangerous he can be."

Rio: Wayne Needs Strike-Partner

Rio Ferdinand is convinced Manchester United are stronger when Wayne Rooney has a striker to play alongside.

Ferdinand told the Observer: "I honestly think that if Louis Saha had been fit all season we probably would've won the league earlier - he's that vital to us, and a player of that type is important to us.

Capello to Calm Rooney Down

A first-half challenge on Ricardo Clark was followed by a similarly shocking second-half tackle on Frankie Hejduk and the yellow card he was shown could so easily have been red.

Roo: Keep Tevez

Wayne Rooney has again urged Manchester United to sign permanently teammate Carlos Tevez.

"It is crucial to get him signed and I am sure that will happen," said Rooney. "Carlos loves playing here, he's enjoying it so I don't see why it will be a problem."

Roon wants Ronny Stay

Wayne Rooney has urged Cristiano Ronaldo to stay with Manchester United.

"I hope the partnership will continue for years. Ronaldo is a great player and it will be brilliant if we can keep him at the club for as long as possible. He's an unbelievable player," Rooney told reporters in the build-up to Wednesday's Champions League final against Chelsea in Moscow.
