He may not be the new England captain but Rio Ferdinand will line up for his country tonight as Fabio Cappello’s side host Czech Republic at Wembley (20:00 BST).

John Terry was handed the armband yesterday, while Ferdinand was given the vice-captain role ahead of England’s 2012 World Cup qualifying campaign.

O'Shea: Go for Gold!

John O'Shea says the demands at Manchester United means no trophy can be considered off the agenda this season.

"We have to aim for the same again. That's the very minimum that's required at a club like this," he told ManUtd.com.

Roma 1 - 1 United

A much-changed Manchester United side earned a draw against Italian giants Roma to protect their unbeaten record in the Champions League this season.

With United already having won Group F and Roma having qualified in second place the game had an eerie start, with the opening 20 minutes dreadfully apathetic.

Man Utd 4 - 1 Derby

Manchester United overcame Derby's resilience to move within a point of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Kuszczak and flew in at his near post. They could have added a second almost instantly, but Liedson's finish was ruled out for offside - a marginal decision at best.

As United struggled to maintain any attacking rhythm, Sporting were shooting on sight and Anderson Polga shocked Kuszczak with a snap-shot that the keeper held at the second attempt.

United Stunned by Bolton

Gary Megson claimed his first win in charge of Bolton with the unlikely scalp of Manchester United, thanks to Nicolas Anelka's early strike.

United experienced their only previous league defeat this season back in August - against Manchester City - whereas that same month marked Bolton's only win in the Premier League - 3-0 against Reading.

Arsenal Snatch Draw

William Gallas equalised in injury-time to salvage a draw and keep Arsenal on top of the Premier League after an absorbing clash with Manchester United.

The opening 45 minutes proved an anti-climax until Gallas diverted Rooney's tame shot in on the stroke of half-time.
