BENJAMIN SESEKO REPORTEDLY PREFERS TO SIGN FOR REAL MADRID

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Benjamin Sesko will prefer to join Real Madrid if he leaves Red Bull Salzburg in the summer transfer window. The Slovenian striker, valued at €20 million by Salzburg, is also a target for Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

Benjamin Sesko is one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, with the 19-year-old making his mark at Red Bull Salzburg since arriving from NK Domzale nearly three years ago. The teenage prodigy cut his teeth in the Austrian outfit’s farm club, FC Liefering before becoming a regular for his parent club last term. And he has started the 2022/23 season strongly.

The Slovenian international has scored twice and provided one assist in two appearances thus far for Red Bull Salzburg. Sesko’s performances have helped him earn comparisons to a certain Erling Haaland, who rose to prominence at the Austrian club before moving to bigger and better things. And Sesko has captured the attention of Real Madrid and Manchester United, among others.
The interest from Real Madrid stems from the rampant uncertainties surrounding the futures of Marco Asensio, Borja Mayoral, and Mariano Diaz. While Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Real Madrid will not sign any more players this summer, his tone has changed in the last few days, with the three attackers’ futures being up in the air.
Among them, Mayoral is on the verge of joining Getafe, while Mariano and Asensio have attracted several clubs across Europe. Sesko is thus a viable target for Real Madrid, with the 19-year-old at the right age to initially be Karim Benzema’s understudy before succeeding the Frenchman. But Real Madrid will face stiff competition from Manchester United in the race to sign Sesko. The Red Devils are currently monitoring Sesko’s progress closely, but they intend to secure his services amid Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to depart from Old Trafford.
