There is news that Manchester United have made a significant move to appoint Jose Mourinho as their next manager, with the Portuguese Premier League winner set to take over from Louis van Gaal.

But it seems that Mourinho will prefer staying in the Premier League especially when he had suggested in the past that this is the best league in the world.

However, the Portuguese wants to have some guarantee from the Manchester United board that there will be some form of stability at the club. He wants to know what kind of power he will be afforded at the club and what kind of freedom he will be awarded in order to run the club.

Jose Mourinho also wants to take control of the club as early as possible so as to be able to bring changes to the club ahead of the new season. He does not want to lose time in unnecessary contract discussions and wants to have enough time to assess his current players. The news about the appointment of Jose Mourinho comes amidst of conflicting reports that van Gaal might be staying at the club. The Dutchman recently stated that he had the full backing of the Glazer’s family and that he will be staying for at least another season.

Fans, as well as some former players, are not keen to see the Dutchman stay at the club as they believe that the club has stalled during the last two years. We will have to wait until the end of the season to see whether a qualification for the Champions League and a FA Cup trophy will be enough to save van Gaal’s job.
