The Serbia international defender had been a doubt to feature after only just returning to training following a facial injury he sustained against Wigan earlier this month.

The pair are now playing regularly alongside each other after an injury to Rooney delayed Ferguson naming the two up front.

Veloso - a target for United, Arsenal and Real Madrid - wants to play alongside countrymen Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson says he won't need to buy in January because many of his injured senior players will be available by then.

Ferguson said: "We won't be strengthening in January, I can absolutely assure everyone of that.

"We brought some good players into the club during the summer and we have also added youngsters like Gerard Pique and Danny Simpson to our squad.

Rooney: No More Penalties

WAYNE Rooney admits he doesn't expect to be given penalty duties again after his miss against Aston Villa.

Rooney saw a second half spot kick saved by Stuart Taylor in Manchester United's 4-1 win - when a goal would have seen him complete a hat trick.

But the England international was only handed the opportunity because regular penalty taker Cristiano Ronaldo was on the bench.

RIO Ferdinand believes Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez have proved they can become a lethal strike force for Manchester United.

Ferdinand believes their form of late has "dispelled the myth" they cannot gel together.

The defender said: "It is fantastic for us to have Wayne and Carlos. The myth about the two of them not being able to play together and it was finally put to bed against Villa.
