Fletcher Back for Scotland

  • 15 October 2007

United midfielder Darren Fletcher is in line for a surprise comeback for Scotland on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old suffered a broken leg while playing for the national team against France last month.

But Scotland boss Alex McLeish has called him into his squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier against Georgia.

McLeish said: "Sir Alex (Ferguson) says Darren will play next weekend for Manchester United, therefore he can play for Scotland. It's fantastic news. Whether we start him, we'll have to wait and see, but he's got a big chance of playing.

"Darren is a big player. He's a United player and they exude an aura. To be fair, though, the squad already has that aura because of the results and performances we've had recently."
