FERGIE STILL MANAGING AT 70

  • 4 January 2012

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be celebrating his 70th birthday on the occasion of the visit of Blackburn Rovers. Speaking ahead of the match, Sir Alex Ferguson said that Tottenham cannot be discounted as just another team this season. He says that Tottenham have the ability to launch title bid given that they have a game in hand over both the Manchester clubs at the top of the table. After the exit from the Champions League at the hands of FC Basel, Manchester United have been on an excellent run of form.

They have had four straight wins, in which they have scored a number of goals. Many are looking towards the same 7-1 score line of last season when Blackburn visit Manchester United for the final Premier League weekend of 2011. Tottenham have been excellent this season are currently third place in the table. More surprising is the fact that they are ahead of the clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, while they also have a few games in hand as well. The game in hand, which is against Everton, is certainly not a guarantee for three points, but many believe that Tottenham will be able to get the maximum.

''Tottenham can definitely win it. They play the best football in the country and their current form is the best in the country,'' said Ferguson. Speaking of his own team, the Scot said that the current injury problems that they are facing is of little worry to him. "We can cope especially in home games. Michael Carrick's form has been one of the key points in recent wins. He can pass the ball and has the height, pace and experience. Patrice also has the experience and the spring to head the ball,'' said Ferguson.
