DA SILVA STARTS IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

  • 28 September 2010

Fabio Da Silva was given a rare start by Ferguson in the Champions League match with Rangers. Only Darren Fletcher remained from the Everton eleven and there were welcome returns to the starting eleven for Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney with Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez making their Champions League debuts.

United started the first half well, camping in the Rangers half against a side that were determined to defend resolutely. Rangers threatened briefly when Davis curled in a free kick that Weir headed on only for Kuszczak to claim whilst, at the opposite end of the pitch Hernandez headed just wide after a decent cross from Fabio Da Silva.
