City Ready for United

  • 30 September 2013

Manchester city's most important game of the season will come this weekend when they play host to Manchester United at the Etihad stadium. The two archrivals will be meeting each other in what will be billed as the clash of the titans. City and United have won the last two Premier league titles and there will be no doubt that they will be once again competing for the title at the end of the season. Hence, this is going to be a six pointer in many ways according to City manager Manuel Pellegrini.

This much is also very important for his counterpart David Moyes, who has failed to win the previous two matches against big teams. United could only manage a 0-0 draw against Chelsea, while they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool. Hence, Moyes is under pressure to deliver a result against every team and this weekend provides a great opportunity for that. Home advantage will certainly count towards the match and Pellegrini is hoping to use it to the maximum possible. Pellegrini has recalled that Moyes has always had a good record against City with his Everton team, but on the contrary, he also has a good record against Everton with his Villarreal team.

"I don't need to be here to know just how important this game is to everyone. I'm well aware. Football in England is different, I hope everyone enjoys it. It's a six-point game, these are two of the teams that will challenge. It's important not to be under too much pressure. David Moyes will be feeling some pressure after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson, but some pressure is good. Yes, I know he had a good record with Everton against City. But with Villarreal I have a good record against him," said Pellegrini ahead of the match.
