Brown Out of England

  • 11 October 2007

United defender Wes Brown will miss England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia on Saturday with a knee injury.

The versatile defender sat out United's wins over Roma and Wigan after sustaining the knock at Birmingham, but still joined up with Steve McClaren's side, however, with a view to playing at Wembley.

Brown missed training yesterday, before withdrawing from the squad entirely in order to continue his rehabilitation in Manchester. It is as yet unknown whether or not he will be available for England's second qualifier in Russia next Wednesday.

His withdrawal leaves England facing a shortage of fit defenders for the double-header, with Sol Campbell already out and John Terry currently nursing a broken cheekbone.
